Sean Spicer’s mother, Kathryn Spicer, is the department manager of the East Asian Studies department at Brown University. Trump’s spin doctor turned Melissa McCarthy impression grew up in Barrington, Rhode Island, which adds to the wonder of this story.

The scoop was posted on Overheard at Brown tonight, and had a lot of students in awe.

Speaking to The Tab, Aidan Calvelli, 20 year old Political Science major, said:

“Based on Sean spicer’s demeanor in the briefing room, you wouldn’t expect that he grew up in a household with an academic worker.

“Though he’s from Rhode Island, Spicer is about as far from the Brown ethos as it gets. Just goes to show that the apple sometimes falls far from the tree.”

It seems ironic that the Press Secretary for an administration that seems to despise multiculturalism was raised by the department manager of Brown’s East Asian Studies department…
