BC confirms 80 students ill after eating from Chipotle in Cleveland Circle

They’re testing for E. coli and norovirus

In a follow-up email from yesterday’s health alert, Dr Thomas Nary confirms over than 80 BC students have come to Health Services with gastrointestinal issues – and all had eaten at Chipotle in Cleveland Circle.

He said students came in sick with “gastrointestinal symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea”.

And the epidemic may not be over. The email added: “Incubation for GI illnesses can occur within two and eight days.”

That means almost a week remains for students who ate there recently to still get sick.

Under the guidance of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, BC is testing for both E. coli and norovirus.

Dr Nary advised for students who are symptomatic to drink lots of fluids, rest and eat small meals.
