Auburn claims top 25 spot after third straight win

‘You’ve got to earn everything you get, especially in this league’

When you think of Auburn Football, you probably think back to the 2013 season where the Tigers went 12-2 and hailed victory over the Crimson Tide with 0:01 second on the clock. While we have not a seen a season quite as impressive since, the 2016 season is beginning to look promising.

Week seven votes are in and the Auburn Tigers are back in the top 25 of AP poll, according to a recent article by al.com. Although the Tigers suffered two losses against No. 3 Clemson and No. 6 Texas A&M, we’ve been able to redeem ourselves within the last three weeks. This past week the Tigers received 166 points,  jumping from No. 31 to No. 28 after a 38-14 win over Mississippi State this past weekend.

This is the first time Auburn has been in the top 25 since September 2015. While Tiger fans everywhere were apprehensive about this season, three straight wins against LSU, Louisiana – Monroe and Mississippi State have given confidence to not only the team and fans, but also Auburn head coach Gus Malzhan. “You’ve got to earn everything you get, especially in this league,” he said. Malzhan went on to say, “we’re just trying to get better each week, that’s what we talked about and every few teams in college football will get better each week and that’s our challenge. So far so good. We’re at the halfway point; we got to keep doing that. But I like where we’re at.”

This weekend is a bye-week for the Tigers, but Oct. 22 resumes regular season with the Tigers facing the No. 22 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks at 5pm in Jordan-Hare Stadium. In addition, as the Tigers begin to move up in the AP polls they also are on their way to the top 25 within the Amway Coaches Poll, currently ranked at No. 26.
