Is this the worst ever leaked screenshot from a frat?
You can thank Kappa Sigma at ULM for this
Leaked screenshots of Kappa Sigma’s GroupMe at the University of Louisana at Monroe reveal some extremely racist comments shared by brothers.
Below are messages exchanged among Kappa Sig’s pledge class, where one brother asks the group for “a good idea for an argumentative research paper topic.”
That unleashes a torrent of awful, awful comments – screenshots below.
Topics suggested include:
“Blacks vs whites”
“Confederates vs union”
“The difference between niggers and black people”
“Why segregation should be brought back”
“Why black quarterbacks don’t win championships”
“Why coloreds don’t play baseball anymore”
“Why black lives don’t matter”
“Why kneeling for the national anthem is for commie bastards”
The screenshots were picked up by ULM students, who called it out as “offensive and divisive speech.”
Trinity Griffin, who is currently at ULM, told The Tab:
“It’s definitely not just Kappa Sigma. I’m 100 percent sure if we looked in the rest of the GroupMe conversations from the rest of the National Panhellenic Conference frat/sororities here at ULM you’d see the the same exact conversation just in different forms.
“Kappa Sig just got caught and they’re paying for it. Everyone in that group message is wrong, from the racist remarks made by Pommier, to the other members who did not correct him.
“We are in the south, at a predominately white institution, saying that ‘I’m shocked that this would happen’ would be a lie.”
“This is unacceptable,” said another student. “If roles were reversed, action would have already been taken.”
A comment from ULM President Nick Bruno says the chapter has been suspended and those involved referred to university discipline.
“I am saddened that ULM students would behave in this manner,” he said.
We have contacted Kappa Sigma and the individual brothers who made racist comments in the screenshots above, and have yet to hear back.
UPDATE
ULM’s President Nick Bruno has responded to the leaked screenshots:
“This afternoon the administration was made aware of inappropriate interactions conducted on a private group exchange (GroupMe) identified as Kappa Sigma Pledge. An individual with access to this private site shared it with an individual who shared it publicly. The university upon receiving notice of the public posting immediately began a preliminary investigation. University Police and Student Affairs officials, as a result of their preliminary findings, have suspended the organization. Students found to be involved will be referred to the campus disciplinary process.
“As president of ULM, I am angry and embarrassed that students of this institution chose to conduct themselves in this manner. I do not and will not condone such behavior or actions nor will I tolerate them. I apologize to our students and the community who have been offended by these callous and insensitive statements and actions.
“You can be assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted and appropriate actions will be taken.”
