These are the colleges doing the most for low-income students
According to a ranking by The New York Times
The colleges doing the most for the American Dream are the University of California system, the University of Florida and Harvard, according to a new ranking compiled by The New York Times.
The College Access Index reveals the top 170 institutions doing the most for economic diversity – the top schools keeping the American Dream alive. It considers how many lower-and-middle income students are at each college, how much it costs for them to study there, how big the school’s endowment is, and how many Pell Grant recipients graduated there.
Famously wealthy colleges that normally feature highly in lists like these don’t make it – Yale, Penn and Dartmouth are all outside the top 20, knocked out by the UCs.
