This Twitter thread about a woman trying to get to work perfectly sums up the sexist bullshit packed into everything

It would never happen the other way

Being a woman in the classroom or in the office is hard enough, but what people often don’t think about is the sexist bullshit that comes with us when we leave.

The leering on the way home, the catcalling in the street, the sexist emails from higher-ups, the constant reminder that no matter how good you are at what you do, that’s not how you’re defined — you’re defined by being a woman.

So when I saw this thread about a woman just trying to get to work this morning, I was shocked for a second, and then I laughed because I could empathize, and then I was sad, and now I’m sharing it with you all.

Girls, you already know. Boys, please learn from this.

This woman sees another woman commuting on the train

Of course there’s some guy talking to her even though she isn’t interested

She asks him to move to she can get out, and he won’t

The train gets to her stop and he still won’t move

She ends up having to climb over him

Stories like this are not uncommon. They are not isolated, they are not happening in some place that’s not here, and they are becoming, sadly, less and less shocking.

Hopefully she made it to work on time, because she’s probably the boss.
