Pepsi finally pulled that offensive Kendall Jenner commercial

IT’S ABOUT TIME

ON THIS BLESSED TUESDAY, we were given the gift of Pepsi finally yanking that controversial Kendall Jenner advertisement.

In a statement, the marketing team apologized and acknowledged the tone-deaf nature of the commercial that was at best an appropriation and at worst a parody of Black Lives Matter and police brutality in America.

“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize,” Pepsi said in a statement. “We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further roll out.”

Pepsi even removed the ad from YouTube, though cached versions are still floating around social media.

The apology came after major backlash in the forms of thought critiques, hilarious memes and funny-but-sad tweets spotlighting exactly how harmful the ad was.
