We’ve been scammed: Biotin doesn’t actually grow your hair and nails

I’ve never felt so ripped-off

How does one recover from a betrayal that's so jarring and soul-shaking that you physically don't know how to continue on with the life you once knew?

That's how I feel knowing that Biotin, that supplement every girl you know pops like Pez, doesn't actually grow your hair and nails.

NY Mag's The Cut spoke with Dr. Margarita De L Teran-Garcia about the long-held belief, and it revealed bad news for those of us (me) who regularly take copious amounts of the water-soluble Vitamin B in an effort to get Jemima Kirke-worthy hair.

"It’s kind of tricky because there’s not too much evidence that only biotin is working for this," Dr. Teran-Garcia told The Cut. "It’s not the only element that is necessary to have the hair be thicker or grow faster."

Adding to my personal hell of suffering, there's also pretty much zero proof that Biotin helps your nails' length or thickness so I guess I'll go die now.
