I don’t feel even a little bit sorry for Tomi Lahren, and neither should you

One ‘decent’ stance doesn’t undo a million other horrible ones

Today, full-time conservative pundit and part-time tacky statement necklace mannequin Tomi Lahren was fired from her position at The Blaze after a brief suspension over comments she made about a woman’s right to choose.

“I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies,” she said on The View. “I’m for limited government, so stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well.”

Lahren’s subsequent firing from her Final Thoughts segment should have been cause for serious celebration — after all, this is a woman who once compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the KKK, said racism against white people runs rampant and called Beyonce “Mrs. Drug Dealer.”

Instead, something else happened. Women, (almost all of them straight and white) started voicing sympathy and even support for Lahren. It was like a single stance, one that was pure common sense, undid every horrible thing she’s ever said.

White women (myself included) have a bad habit of ignoring both subtle and overt aggressions against people of color but getting up in arms when our rights as women come under fire, and this is a perfect example. Just because Tomi Lahren happened to say one thing that was completely medieval, it doesn’t mean she suddenly became a good person.

It doesn’t erase the disgusting, inflammatory and false things she’s had the opportunity to spew over a huge platform.

Those who feel bad for Lahren because she “voiced an opinion” are forgetting the hundreds of downright evil “opinions” she’s been able promote for years.

Yesterday, Lahren tweeted this:

Based on the statements she’s made on her show, we could probably amend this tweet to say “Straight white privileged ladies, you were made to do difficult things. Believe in yourself.” Because it’s very clear those are the only types of “ladies” she cares about. Oh, and guns. She really cares about guns.

Tomi, you don’t deserve sympathy and I refuse to give it.
