Hillary Clinton just put Trump’s body shaming to bed again

‘We can’t take any of this seriously anymore. We need to laugh at it. We need to refute it. We need to ignore it. And we need to stand up to it’

In light of Donald Trump’s questionable views on how women should look, body shaming has been on our minds far too much recently. However Hillary Clinton just vehemently shut him down again in answer to a 15-year-old’s question.

Before the first Presidential debate, Hillary released a campaign video calling out Trump for his widely criticized views on body image.

The video that shows women and girls looking in the mirror, with a voice over of Trump’s voice shaming them appears to be the first of many defenses for body image.

This was the beginning of her passionate efforts to put this contentious discourse to bed.

Ahead of the VP debate today, Hillary answered a 15-year-old girl’s questions on body image with unrivaled passion at a community center in Haverford, Pa.

Matt Flegenheimer described in The New York Times how in response to the first question of the day, which emphasized the “damage Donald Trump does when he talks about women and how they look”, Hillary graciously thanked 15-year-old Brennan Leach who asked her to help girls to realize “that they are so much more than just what they look like”.

Shutting down Trump’s offensive exclamations about female body image, Hillary said: “My opponent insulted Miss Universe! How do you get more acclaimed than that? But it wasn’t good enough.

“We can’t take any of this seriously anymore. We need to laugh at it. We need to refute it. We need to ignore it. And we need to stand up to it.”

Continuing her zealous response, she spoke of the need to stop the “many young women online who are being bullied” from hurting themselves.

“We’re not all going to end up being Miss Universe, I hate to tell you.

“So let’s be the best we can be. Let’s be proud of who we are.”
