What does your profile picture say about you?

Profile photos are a visible representation of people, their personalities, and their journies through life. People seem to change their profile photos a lot. I was wondering why? Could it be because they just experienced something life changing? Or did they just change it on their trip from Nantucket last summer? It seems to me that profile pictures could say a lot about you, where you’ve been and maybe even where you’re going.

The senior photo

Senior year. The year full of last chances, old friends, and uncomfy professional photo shoots. Everyone has had a senior photo profile pic because honestly senior photos are taken at a time in which teens are at their prime. Their braces are off, they’re almost ready for college, and they have a fresh all-knowing senior glow about them.

The friend prone to injuries

You may have fallen on your face and chipped a tooth or recently undergone surgery. A prof pic with an injury is common to showcase how truly badass you are. An injury is cool, and gives an update to friends and family that you are well, and just a little physically broken. (I promise I’m OK auntie June!)

The friend that loves college

Did I hear someone say SKO BUFFS?! This friend loves where they go to college and are making the best of their young years. They probably have a bunch of college sweatshirts in their closet and go to almost all the sporting events. School pride is a staple in this friend’s diet, and they probably have a university sticker plastered on their Mac laptop.

The ~trendy~ friend

Idk when your adorable friend with glasses from 7th grade, grew up and turned into an effortless trendy goddess. But this friend probs goes to school in LA and has a closet to die for. They have a gorgeous Insta feed full of their time on the beach and travels in Europe with their new even cooler, trendier college friends.

The stereotypical prom prof pic

PRAHM SEASON, the hype of prom lingers as people change their profile pics to reflect this monumental step towards adulthood. Hopefully, everyone has the opportunity to go to prom and throw down on the dance floor. Prom has an everlasting hype because there is so much effort/pressure put on one night. Once it is finally over, all that’s left are chipped nails, a torn gown and endless amounts of photos.

The friend who took French in high school 

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but a picture under the Eiffel Tower just screams one: tourist. If anyone has had the opportunity to visit the iconic tower then they have probably taken a photo with it and that photo has probably made an appearance on their social media platform. Bon appétit!

The inanimate object 

Lol, and appearance of an inanimate object is always a little questionable. If it is a photo with a car then that person is probably a young high school boy without a decent photo of himself. Other inanimate objects are probably references to an inside joke that only their true friends can understand.

The friend who’s always eating and never gains a pound

For some people, food is like family (which I totally understand). No matter what, there seems to always be a friend with crispy tater tots in their pockets and plans to go to the nearest pizzeria. Honestly eating is my daily exercise, and I find it rather exhilarating.

The extreme friend

When scrolling through your newsfeed, you may question if you are looking at a Patagonia ad but it’s just your extreme nature friend. This friend finds it hard to pencil you into their crammed schedule full of hiking 14ers and cliff jumping. They rarely update their profiles because they are always traveling, or prepping to go on a 100k bike race across the country.

The avid concert goer 

Music, is cool, vinyl is life. Regards of the month this friend is always a little short with their end on rent because they used their money on recent Oh Wonder tickets. Their Spotify playlists are probably, FIRE though.

The recent graduate

Wohoo! Caps off to the class of 2k16. ConGRADulations! Graduation is a big deal, and therefore it would only make sense that a graduation pic would surface as a prof pic because it is so monumental.

The ‘happy’ couple 

Aw, capturing a moment of a happy couple is pretty bomb whether it’s a selfie with your high school sweetheart or a prom pic of the two of them at their junior prom. Generally, if they have changed their profile picture to reflect their relationship status they are very FB official or just claiming to be that perfect couple on the outside.

The dorm pic

College dorms are the very first places that young adults have all to their selfs. Dorm room pics are cute and fresh. You can tell a lot about a person from what they have up in their room. This friend is probably an avid activist and one of the smartest people you’ll ever meet. College is the ideal place for this friend to spread their ideas.

The friend that went abroad

This friend probably just spent six weeks archeologically digging in Italy, and just being really cool. They love to travel, and wear Birkenstocks. They always have a new story to share and a new adventure to be envious of. It always seems that they know a ton of people due to their lively personality and worldly travels.
