A Massachusetts bakery thinks ‘slavery is necessary’

They believe ‘blacks’ prosper in servitude to the ‘whites’

In the heart of quiet and picturesque New England, an establishment is openly voicing its support of slavery. Blue Blinds Bakery in Plymouth, MA has posted on their Facebook page that they do indeed support slavery. Yes, you read that right.

Though they say they “are not racist,” they believe that blacks prosper in servitude to the “white races.” Quoting religious scripture, they claim there are numerous examples of ‘blacks’ prospering in servitude to ‘whites and asians.’ Not only are these demeaning words absolutely horrific in general, but they are especially offensive in light of the recent Minnesota shooting, as well as countless of other situations in which POC are continuously viewed as threats.

They then ask for no attack on their character, attack on others, or inappropriate behavior, which seems silly considering the magnitude and contents of this post.

The bakery is owned and operated by members of the Twelve Tribes community, a religious organization founded in 1972, longtime under fire for child labor and abuse as well as racial issues. Similar establishments exist around Massachusetts, as well as cafes and bakeries owned and operated by members of Twelve Tribes, though none of them have yet made such brash comments.

Thankfully, many people are not only boycotting the bakery, but the surrounding community has gone to great lengths to make sure that the establishment no longer receives praise or good business. Longtime customers are even boycotting the establishment — frustrated and deeply hurt by the message they are spreading.

“Let’s get this straight, you cannot make up your own definition of racism. This is, in every sense of the word, racist. This isn’t even discrimination, they support SLAVERY. People are murdering black Americans. When you support people or establishments like these, you are supporting racism. Use your voice, educate yourselves and others. Don’t allow support of this ignorance. I will no longer be a customer at the Blue Blinds Bakery and I completely regret that I ever was.” – Emily French

And people are making sure to give them the worst reviews possible. #BoycottBBB
