I tried three knock-off versions of the Kylie Lip Kit

With the recent Kylie lip kit craze breaking the Internet, I thought I might see what all the hype was about. After doing minimal research and realizing the matte lip kits are $29 each or thousands on eBay, I quickly rethought.

I dug a little deeper online and found out I’m not the only one yearning for a cost effective way to slay, so I found a few of the best and cheapest lip kit dupes and tried them out.

Milani Matte Liquid Lipstick in Precious: 9/10

This color is an exact match for Kylie’s Posie K and it was a dream to use. It was my favorite color by far and probably the only one I’ll actually wear after today’s experiment.

It went on smoothly and the color was incredibly rich. It was pretty sticky before it dried and took a little bit of elbow grease to get off but overall was a 9/10 and only cost $9!

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Love: 7/10

Every white girl loves a T-Swift red lip. This lip is exactly the same as Mary Jo K but can be found at your local Target for only $7.99

This was the softest formula of all but only gets a 7/10 because it’s tough to clean up around the edges which is necessary if you’re a wreck like me.

I wasn’t really going for the Miranda Sings look but… if the lips fit…

Covergirl Colorlicious Gloss in Warm Toffee: 9/10

This cheap twin of Kylie’s “Literally” gloss is literally  the easiest look to pull off. My makeup naiveté got the better of me and I thought it was a matte makeup so I was disappointed in its lack of color. It also turns out not all lip glosses taste like strawberry bubblegum which caused me to throw a small tantrum and have a brief existential crisis but I digress.

The gloss is super smooth and not sticky or gross at all, which is great because it goes with any outfit and is super useful for quick on-the-go touchups.

Overall I was highly impressed with what I found at just my local drug store and Walmart.

I am also glad that I don’t have to drop part of a college tuition on a lip trend. #blessed
