Bernie supporters react to Hillary clinching the nomination

‘The system is rigged’

Hillary Clinton has won the Democratic nomination, according to figures published by the AP.

The news agency claims she has enough commitments from superdelegates to secure a victory over Bernie Sanders, even before five states are vote in primaries tomorrow.

They said: “An Associated Press count of pledged delegates won in primaries and caucuses and a survey of party insiders known as superdelegates shows Clinton with the overall support of the required 2,383 delegates.”

The Sanders campaign issued a statement minutes later. “It is unfortunate that the media, in a rush to judgement, are ignoring the Democratic National Committee’s clear statement that it is wrong to count the votes of superdelegates before they actually vote at the convention this summer.”

The Tab spoke to Bernie supporters who had just learned of the news as they were waiting for the candidate to speak at Crissy Field in San Francisco.

“The system is rigged,” claimed a fan called Kevin, who blamed voter suppression in the New York primary for Bernie’s delegate deficit.

“I am as outraged as Senator Sanders is,” he said.

Another supporter, Isabelle, said: “It’s weird because we haven’t even voted.” She added: “Bernie has to be the VP.”

“I don’t believe that,” said a supporter called Shawn, referring to the AP announcement. He added: “I feel like we still got California to go. Superdelegates haven’t cast their vote yet.”
