Has anyone else noticed the ties between The New York Times and the Clinton Foundation?

And how a pro-Bernie story was edited after publication?

| UPDATED

The New York Times endorsed Hillary Clinton earlier this year, but could it be because she’s the best candidate for presidency? There do seem to be a number of connections shared between the New York Times and the Clinton Foundation.

First, let us look at the Board of Directors.

Mark Thompson is the New York Times President and Chief Executive Officer, while James A. Kohlberg has been a Director since 2008. According to a searchable index of Clinton Foundation donors, Thompson has donated up to $25,000 and Kohlberg has donated up to $100,000.

The New York Times top shareholder is also a Clinton Foundation donor by the name of Carlos Slim Helu. Helu isn’t just any donor, he is a Mexican business mogul, investor, and philanthropist whose net worth is an estimated $51.3 billion, according to Forbes.

The New York Times is indebted to him, after he lent the company $250 million in January 2009 to get out of a financial crisis, as reported by Reuters. As of January 20th, 2015, Helu owns 16.8 percent of the company, and has acquired 27.8 million shares to date.

So isn’t interesting that the New York Times edited a pro-Bernie Sanders story, even after publication?

He was recently featured in a New York Times article, “Bernie Sanders Scored Victories for Years via Legislative Side Doors.” This article portrayed him in a positive light, highlighting his successes in previous years. After the article was published, an editor made several harsh changes to criticize Sanders, as revealed by an anonymous user on Medium.

According to NewsDiffs, a website that tracks article changes in media outlets, the headline was changed to “Via Legislative Side Doors, Bernie Sanders Won Modest Victories.” The editor added two critical paragraphs and removed a positive quote from Sanders’ longtime advisor.

The New York Times’ slogan is “All the News That’s Fit to Print”. Or should that be “The News We’d Like to Print”?
