I tried the Kim Kardashian boob tape trick

I will never wear a bra out ever again

Need to know how to tape your boobs?

The curse of curves was definitely more of a burden for me than a blessing – with boys throwing things down my shirt (looking at you 11th grade chem class), year-round boob sweat, obscene comments from men of all ages and the inability to run for more than three and a half minutes. Don’t get me wrong, I love having something many women desire, but there have definitely been my share of challenges.

The most unfortunate problem associated with a big rack is sifting through a clothing rack. Shopping for bathing suits is the number one thing I dread every year. I know so well what I can and can’t wear that I don’t even have to try things on anymore. I can just tell I won’t be able to squeeze my 34DDs into that tight top without either looking like a porn star or like I have a uni-boob or that wearing that swing dress will definitely make me look like a box.

I’ve had my share of wardrobe malfunctions (example white bra below), solely because I can’t go without wearing a bra. EVER.

Backless tops? Forget it, I couldn’t fit into sticky boobs if I tried and nipple flowers were never enough. I had no hope for my fashion future until I found out about Kim Kardashian‘s cleavage trick. Basically, you have to tape your boobs up into place and it should keep them in place for all of your low cut and backless needs, without the help of a bra.

Completely mesmerized, I had to take a crack at it myself (pun intended).

I grabbed some band-aids from my bathroom and some thick masking tape (IMPORTANT: THE THICKER THE TAPE, THE BETTER!) to get started.

I honestly had no idea what I was doing after I taped my nipples down, unlike Kim, so I wouldn’t rip them off when I took off the tape. I decided to follow Kim’s picture for the most part because she is the master. I taped everything up and over. For extra support, I taped underneath as well, which Kim seems to avoid, probably because her tops are cut down to her belly button. Since I was going to rock a leotard out, I decided to go lower instead of higher. If you’re wearing something that doesn’t restrict how high your tape can go, tape it up to your shoulders or even around your neck like a halter for ultimate support and lift.

The results were pretty surprising. I felt stable and like I was actually wearing a bra. I even ran up and down a flight of stairs and didn’t feel any more jiggling than normal. Dancing around felt great, I wasn’t limited and I was actually confident to wear a leotard out! The only thing I didn’t like about it was that you could see some of the outlines of tape pieces, which I could definitely fix if I practiced more.

Before

After

Taking off the tape wasn’t too bad because I made the early decision to tape my nipples. My mom, who told me this was her favorite thing to do when she was my age, said it would be the most painful part of the whole ordeal, but it was actually easier than ripping off a band-aid.

I guess Kim didn’t really make up the trick, I’ll credit that to my mom, but I definitely appreciate her bringing it to the light. Now, I can feel a little more confident in the clothing I wear as a girl whose chest isn’t going anywhere.

Thanks for the idea Kim, keep it up (pun totally intended).
