The University of York is officially the third most haunted uni in the UK

It has 49 reports of paranormal activity on campus


According to research from The Knowledge Academy, The University of York is officially the third most haunted university in the UK.

The study, which featured 59 UK universities, looked at factors such as the number of cemeteries, gravestones and listed buildings within two miles of each campus as well as paranormal reports from the areas.

With a final score of 8.36, York sits below The University of Bath and The University of Liverpool. It also has the second-highest number of paranormal reports with 49 in total.

The Knowledge Academy said: “With steeps of medieval heritage found throughout its historic city, it’s only natural to find The University of York near the top of our list. From its world-renowned cathedral to its notorious gothic dungeons, the North Yorkshire city has long been a favoured destination for those with a preference for the eerie side of history.”

“With nearly 1,200 nearby listed buildings and 52 cemeteries, The University of York claimed the third spot with a formidable final score of 8.36.”
