Here are the best signs from yesterday’s York Climate Strike

A sustainable Valentine’s special

On Friday 14th February, crowds gathered in St Helen’s Square to protest in the Global Climate Strike.

Activists from YouthStrike4Climate, Extinction Rebellion, University College Union and Socialist Alternative (among many others) lead the rally around town, with angry and passionate protesters of all ages and backgrounds marching behind them.

Chants and songs such as “No more coal, no more oil, keep our carbon in the soil!” and “Hey hey, ho ho, climate change has got to go!” rang through the streets of York, striding past families and shoppers that greeted them with smiles, cheers and waves of encouragement.

Although the passion from the strikers was enough to motivate any movement, the best part of the day was undoubtedly the variety of protest signs floating above the heads of the crowd.

From sassy and pun-derful to driven and straightforward, here are our faves:

“I’ve seen smarter cabinets at IKEA.” Oo, burnnn

A protester that Ariana would be proud of

The cards are on the table with these girls, “Look after the planet!”

These protesters definitely put things into perspective for us!

“Who gives a crap? We do!”

Paul doesn’t like climate change, and neither do we

What’s my type? Eco-conscious…and tall

A sign that would definitely get a Sanders Seal of Approval™

Is there an award for sweetest activist? I think we might have a winner
