Is there anybody that doesn’t love a good Greggs?

A classic staple in every student’s diet, Greggs is surely a contender for the most beloved Great British cuisine.

Now, finally, Heslington East residents will have the ultimate bragging rights, as a Greggs store is opening on their campus.

Ever skipped breakfast to make that 9am? Ever been in need of that vital hangover fix?

These are now hardships of the past, as store opening times run over breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays (great news if you’ve been avoiding a trek to Aldi).

Legit the only time I've been jealous of the students living on Hes East

Greggs will be open from 7am until 7pm weekdays, 8am until 6pm Saturdays and a respective 9am until 5pm on Sundays.

All students love a freebie surely? To make this news that much sweeter, by showing your student card when purchasing a sandwich you’re able to bag yourself a free sweet treat, sausage roll, snack pack or piece of fruit.

York is the third university to have a Greggs on their campus after Sunderland and Leicester, making us infinitely better than most universities across the UK right?

But most important of all, there is now a definitive reason for friends back at home to be jealous, no one can deny a Greggs within walking distance is not an enviable victory.

A spokesperson for Greggs said: "We’re delighted to be able to invest in York and provide our valued customers with a modern and convenient new shop. We hope our new and existing customers enjoy the wide range of products on offer."

To top it all off, there are still jobs waiting to be filled at the new store, appealing to any students still in their overdraft or just die-hard Greggs fans who live and breathe steak bakes.

Whether you’re a Greggs lover or still unconvinced (just a matter of time), our university has been well and truly blessed with news every student can get on board with.
