York Minster amongst top UK tourist attractions

It was the 60th most visited place last year

The York Minster was ranked as one of the most visited UK attractions in 2016, according to new research produced by Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA).

The Minster was the 60th most visited attraction in the UK for 2016, with over 600,000 visitors. It was the third most visited Cathedral on the list, with only Westminster Abbey and Canterbury Cathedral coming higher.

The Minster was not the only York based attraction to make the list. The National Railway Museum came in at 48th, and The National Media Museum and Fountains Abbey Estate also did enough to make the top 100.

These findings come after York was said to be the most friendliest city in the UK where it beat Gloucester to the top spot. It also came third in polls for the happiest and safest city in the UK.

Basically, York’s just a great place.
