Big D is back, and it’s bigger than ever before

Tickets go on sale this Friday at the launch party


York’s largest student festival is back and its bigger than it has ever been before. Are you excited? Of course you are. This is York’s longest running and largest independent festival, who wouldn’t be?

This year the team behind the festival have plans to expand and increase the scale in a major way…

Big D is the name given to the festival which runs annually across York University’s campus. Organised by, and running across the grounds of Derwent College, the organisers are excited to bring this 1,700 person, post- exam blow out to your door.

This year, Big D aims to attract all students, in all years, across all colleges whether you’re Hes East or West, Vanbrugh or James, Derwent or Langwith this is an event for the whole university (that includes you off campus students) to come and join the biggest summer party in York.

With a theme set to get you talking and bookings set to lift the roof off each stage, the team have gone all out this year, with a bigger budget and bigger names than ever before, this will be the event of the post exams calendar.

There will be an unprecedented Launch Party taking place on Greg’s Place, on this Friday, 10th March, from 3:30pm. There will be live music and the name of the first headliner will be announced (hopefully in the sun), along with an opportunity to buy the first batch of tickets for just £20. So get yourselves down early to grab your tickets before they’re gone! (the next release sale price will be £25).

Last year, Big D ‘State of Mind’ went off with music from Fuse ODG, and Dimitri From Paris. Prior to that, Big D has seen the likes of Katy B, Pendulum, Shadow Child, Chase & Status and Basshunter grace its stages.
