If you’re anything like the typical university student, you’ve most likely spent your first term in Kuda or in bed. However, it’s now second term and still the most cultural thing you’ve done is getting a selfie in front of the Minster.

You’ve have had your student loan for nearly a month now which means you’ll most likely already be surviving off beans and ASDA noodles, so Visit York are here to help us culturally deprived students, by offering the majority of Yorks tourist attractions free this weekend for students with a valid student ID card or a York card.

York Residents’ Festival is Visit York’s way of thanking residents for the warm welcome given to York’s 7 million annual visitors.

There is something for everyone, so whether you want to be scared in the Dungeons or explore the Art Gallery you can now do the things you said you’d do in Freshers but without having to part with the money. You could get three trebles and entry to Fibbers for the usual price of a ticket so you might want to miss Koh Samui this Friday and see how many attractions you can fit into a weekend.

It’s not only attractions taking part in the Residents Festival, there are also deals on tours, walks, shops and eateries. If you don’t want to face the cold around Holgate windmill, you can enjoy a two for one deal on meals at Las Iguanas.

Some of the attractions do require pre-booking or are at certain times such as deals at York’s Chocolate Story or The York Boat but it’s definitely worth searching the Visit York website to finally do all the things you’ve said you will for four months now.

There’s a full list of all the attractions on the Visit York website.
