York placed 103rd in World University Rankings
Don’t worry, we still beat Lancaster
York have been placed 103rd in the QS World University Rankings – a whopping 17 places higher than last year.
Although we were beaten out by Leeds and Sheffield, we still managed to hold strong at 103rd, putting us 19th in the UK rankings.
Although some may be downhearted by hitting the three digit mark, we’ve successfully beaten our track record of 120th in 2014, 114th in 2013 and 110th in 2012.
English Language and Literature students should also be pretty pleased as they’ve come 29th worldwide – an impressive feat.
Possibly more impressive is our proven superiority over Lancaster University in academia as well as sports, as our Roses rivals placed 121st behind us. Better luck next year.
Unsurprisingly, Cambridge and Oxford remain in the top 10 worldwide, with Manchester following at 33rd.
York St John, however, will be disappointed to hear that they didn’t seem to classify as a university in the world rankings, as they are nowhere to be found in the chart.
Meanwhile, our Canadian counterpart didn’t do so well either – Toronto’s York University came a measly 441st.
