Coventry and Warwickshire will be in the new Tier 3 – here’s what it means for students

Coventry and Warwickshire will both be in the new Tier 3 after lockdown ends on 2 December, the Government announced today.

The new restrictions will mean meeting socially indoors or in most outdoor spaces with anyone not within your ‘bubble’ will be banned. The rule of six will apply to public spaces like parks and public gardens.

Bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants will remain closed, only permitted to offer takeaway, click-and-collect, drive-through or delivery services.

Many leisure and entertainment venues will also remain closed.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said, “I know how difficult this has been, especially for those areas who have been in tougher restrictions for so long.”

Anyone living inside a Tier 3 zone has been requested to avoid travel to other parts of the UK other than where necessary.

There are 2 active Covid cases on campus within Warwick University’s staff and students, and 17 off campus according to Monday’s data from the university’s Test and Trace.

Under the Tier categories before lockdown, Coventry was in Tier 2, while Leamington Spa remained in Tier 1.
