Goodbye Costa! Warwick is getting a Pret

If you listen closely, you can hear your bank account trembling

It's been a whirlwind of a summer. Boris Johnson became Prime Minister, Greg and Amber won Love Island, and now Warwick campus is getting a Pret A Manger.

The cafe comes as a replacement for Costa Coffee which closed on Wednesday 24th of July. It will open in the same location before the start of term one.

A spokesperson for the University said: "There will be some construction work taking place for a few weeks but we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum.

"The developments are part of the University's plans to create a vibrant campus providing a wide variety of food and drink outlets and have been informed by feedback from staff, students and the wider community."

New Pret, who dis?

But Pret isn't the only change coming to Warwick. Café Westwood is also being replaced. It closed on Friday 19th of July and will have a new café before term one.

The existing seating area and microwaves will still be available to use, and the nearest café is University House Café.

A spokesperson for the University said: "From week commencing 29 July there will be a catering truck selling hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes."

Additionally, A Cafe Nero is set to open in time for the Autumn Term. It will be located in the Sports and Wellness Hub – yet another reason for you to cave in and purchase a gym membership. Brilliant!

Predictably, the news has become a hotly debated topic amongst students. What did you expect? Once you hit University, caffeine is vital. And god knows the Costa Express machine in Rootes Grocery isn't going to cut it.

Here are all the best reaction tweets that have blessed our timelines:

One student said: "Warwick opening a Pret on campus is so unbelievably Warwick I had to double-take the article wasn't satire"

Another added: "Usually I despise the fact that Warwick tries so hard to be in London without being in London but the nearest Pret is currently in Stratford Upon Avon and I fucking love Pret."

Well, at least we'll always have ProPlus when the money runs out.
