Warwick Cocktail Society presents Summer cocktails

Warwick University’s Cocktail Society has provided us with their top five refreshing drinks to cool you off this Summer


1) Blue Margarita – By Perry (President)

Ingredients:

1.5 shots of Tequila

1 shot of Blue Curaçao

1 shot of freshly squeezed Lime Juice

Salt (for the rim)

Method:

Step 1: Rim a chilled margarita glass with salt.

Step 2: Put some ice into a cocktail shaker and pour in the ingredients.

Step 3: Shake for 10 seconds.

Step 4: Place some ice into the prepared margarita glass and strain contents.

Step 5: Optional Garnish: Orange slice with Cherry.

2) Passion Fruit and Peach Bellini – By Megan (Publicity Secretary)

Ingredients:

1 shot – peach purée:

1 shot – fresh passion fruit juice.

0.5 shot – Peach Schnapps (optional)

2 shots (or more) of chilled Prosecco.

A splash of strained, fresh lemon juice.

1 slice of Peach or half of a Passion Fruit to garnish.

Method:

Step 1: Half the Passion Fruit and squeeze out the juice.

Step 2: Chill the juice in the fridge for a couple of hours

Step 3: Mix all of the ingredients (except for the Prosecco)

Step 4: Stir.

Step 5: Fill the remainder of the glass with Prosecco.

3) Aperol Spritz – By Nicole (Tour & Sponsorship)

Ingredients:

3 shots of Prosecco.

2 shots of Aperol.

1 shot of soda water.

Ice.

Slice of orange to garnish (optional).

Method:

Step 1: Put a couple of ice cubes into the glass.

Step 2: Add the Prosecco.

Step 3: Pour in the Aperol.

Step 4: Add the soda water (fill the glass).

Step 5: Garnish with orange (optional).

4) Pina Colada – By Samantha (Treasurer)

Ingredients:

2 shots of Malibu.

2 shots of Coconut Cream.

Pineapple Juice.

Ice.

A wedge of Pineapple to garnish (optional).

Method:

Step 1: Fill a shaker with ice cubes.

Step 2: Add 2 shots of Malibu and Coconut cream.

Step 3: Add 2 shots of Pineapple Juice.

Step 4:  Shake for about 10 seconds.

Step 5: Put some ice in the glass.

Step 6: Pour through a strain and straight into a glass and top up with more pineapple juice.

5) Irish Maiden Cocktail – By Tom (Resident Bartender)

Ingredients:

3 shots of whiskey.

1 shot of honey simple syrup (recipe below).

1 shot of grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed).

A dash of ginger ale.

1/4 cup of honey.

1/4 cup of water.

Method:

Step 1: Prepare two old fashioned glasses with a few cubes of ice.

Step 2: Fill a cocktail shaker 3/4 full of ice.

Step 3: Pour in whiskey, honey simple syrup, and grapefruit juice.

Step 4: Shake well until all the ingredients are chilled and mixed.

Step 5: Pour the contents of the shaker evenly into the prepared glasses and top with ginger ale.

Honey Simple Syrup:

Step 1: In a microwave-safe bowl combine honey and water.

Step 2: Microwave (on high) for 1 minute or until honey is dissolved in the water.

Step 3: Chill before using.
