Two Warwick University academics attacked by gang in Kenilworth

Maths Professor Ariel Pacetti says he had a ‘lucky escape’

Two Warwick University academics were attacked by a gang of three men last Friday, who were cycling along the Kenilworth Greenway.

They were attacked just before the bridge over Coventry Road in Kenilworth, which is close to the Warwick University cycle path. The two attacks happened at separate times on Friday evening.

Maths Professor Ariel Pacetti was attacked first at 6pm, but was able to get away, stating that he had a “lucky escape”.

However, his colleague, Dr Stefan Adams, was attacked at 6.45 pm, and was knocked off his bike when one of the attackers punched him. He was hit further while on the ground, but his injuries were not serious. His bag and folder were also stolen.

Warwickshire Police are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anything.
