UWE A-Z part 2
The second part of the Tab’s guide to the 26 best bits of Bristol.
N-elson Street
Home to the UK’s largest permanent street art project “See No Evil”. It’s basically a huge outdoor gallery of some really cool graffiti. So edgy you could cut yourself on it.
O-2
Really good venue for gigs but a bit “moshpitty” for a standard night out… beware the stairs.
P-apaji’s
2 for 1 cocktails, Monday to Friday on a huge range of tasty drinks, plus student deals. A classy way to start the night.
Q-uakers friars
Opposite Cabot Circus, Quakers friars is home to shops such as Ted Baker and Link Unless you’re given a very generous student loan and/or allowance you probably won’t shop here.
R-acks
I’m gonna run these by you and let the beautiful words sink in… BURGER MONDAYS, WINE TUESDAYS and STEAK AND CHIPS THURSDAYS. The food is so damn good. Just go.
S-uspension bridge
Probably the best tourist attraction in Bristol, and it also used to be a Bristol Uni club night until everyone realised their SU is shit at organising things and it closed down.
T-hekla
Aside from the fact that it being a club on a boat should be reason enough to go at least once to Thekla, it also hosts some pretty good gigs. Downfall? It has been used in a ‘Skins’ episode…. Tainted.
U-nder the stars
Food and drink, open mic and film nights on a boat. Because let’s face it, everything is better on a boat (see entry for ‘T’).
V-ic (Bristol Old)
OK, so “The Bristol Old Vic” only kind of starts with a V (ish) but Bristol life isn’t all pubs, party boats and cocktails. Add some culture into your life and go see a play (if you can afford it).
W-atershed
The UK’s first media centre, good if you want to watch films not shown in Odeon or the Cinema de Lux.
X-tra time
If I’m honest, I really struggled to think of anything beginning with ‘X’ in Bristol. But this is the official UWE sports night in Mbargos every Wednesday… So there.
Y-o yo burger
If you ever get bored of (dare I say it?) Jason Donovan’s food then head to Yoyo burger! Speciality burgers include ostrich, kangaroo, truffle and wild boar. Go crazy!
Z-aza bazaar
With Zaza’s I think it is really a matter of quantity over quality. An all you can eat buffet costing roughly £15, with a wide range of food.
