Bridgerton is Netflix’s latest and hottest drop, it’s become extremely popular and has even been watched by over 82 million households. It’s honestly a work of art, and it’s our pleasure to announce that one of the Bridgerton cast members actually comes from Sussex county. His name is Luke Newton, he’s from Shoreham and plays Colin Bridgerton in the hit series.

The Argus reported that before the show, Luke started his acting career by performing in a number of productions at Northbrook Theatre in Littlehampton. He even went to Greater Brighton Metropolitan College. Luke Newton then went on to study at The Brit School which is situated in Croydon, finally graduating in 2012 from the London Scool of Musical Theatre.

Luke made his television debut in the BBC Two series The Cut and even stared on Disney Channel in the series The Lodge, before being cast in the role of Colin Bridgerton. The Argus also reported that he was even part of a boyband, South 4, who went on to sign a record deal for one million pounds in 2012.

Brighton’s Theatre Royal was used for the filming of Bridgerton, starring in episode seven during a concert scene. Theatre Royal even tweeted to warn their customers that the theatre would be making an appearance in the series. They said: “Our wonderful theatre may be ‘dark’ but rest assured even when we’re closed we’re never really empty! Anyone spotted us in the brilliant new Netflix series ‘Bridgerton’? (No Spoilers!) This was filmed in December 2019 so look out for our beautiful venue.”

It has been reported that more than 82 million households have watched the series and it has already been announced that a second season is on its way.
