Sussex library to remain open for essential use despite Tier 4 coronavirus restrictions

They posted a statement on Instagram earlier today

It was announced earlier today that the University of Sussex library is set to remain open for essential use only throughout the lockdown. This comes after the country has been placed under Tier 4 restrictions, meaning all non-essential shops and services must close.

Essential use is classified as “those unable to study in their own home or residence” and “those with an essential requirement to access the IT facilities which they cannot do from their own home or residence”, as stated in their Instagram post.

Students are reminded that it is compulsory to wear a mask, unless exempt, and to maintain two metres distance for social distancing. Members of staff will be patrolling the building to check the enforcement of these rules.

There will also be a reduction in the number of study spaces available in order to increase the distance between desks.
