Fight at Montpelier Place in Brighton leaves man badly hurt

He is in a serious condition

At about 10:15 last night (5 Nov) Sussex police were called Montpelier Place following reports of a fight. The fight is said to have involved about 20 people.

A man suffered severe injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Two men were arrested and remain custody today.

The incident occurred as many people took to the pubs for the last time for at least four weeks following the announcement of the second lockdown.

Detective Inspector Owen Radley told The Argus: “The victim has suffered serious injuries in the street and has been rushed to hospital. The incident happened in what would have been a busy area, and we are sure someone would know what happened.”

A large cordon has been erected in the area surrounding Montpelier Place.

Officer teams and forensics are currently occupying the scene.

Sussex police are urging anyone who might have witnessed the fight or have any information to get in contact.
