Update: There are currently 76 positive coronavirus cases at The University of Sussex

There are 56 confirmed cases on campus

The number of coronavirus cases at The University of Sussex has risen by nine cases in the past few days.

As of October 14, the university reported a total of 76 confirmed positive cases, both on and off campus. All bar one of the cases are students.

There are 56 cases of coronavirus on campus, and a further 19 off campus, giving a total of 75 students infected with the virus. This marks a small increase since the university’s last report (October 12), where a total of 67 students and staff were self-isolating due to positive test results.

This comes after reports of Sussex students struggling to access adequate testing, due to the location of testing centres and postal drop-off points in relation to campus. The Student’s Union has stated that home testing kits will soon be available to students, as well as the return of a mobile testing unit to campus.
