An armed police unit has advanced towards a house in Coldean

It was reported an armed police unit and police dogs waited outside the house


Armed police arrived at a house in Ingham Drive, Coldean after being called at 1.40pm today, The Argus reported.

Alongside, emergency service teams were based in the street, with a dog unit and ambulances.

Sussex Police closed Upper Lewes Road due to safety concerns of a man in one of the houses in Ingham Drive.

Police were heard by residents shouting, “We are armed and we will use force” as they advanced towards the house.

Mason Locke, a resident who observed the incident explained: “We don’t know what is happening but there are three incident response ambulance vans, four marked police cars and two unmarked.

“[There are also] currently two armed police units and one police dog unit outside the house at the Hawkhurst Road end of lngham Drive.

It was reported that armed policemen were heard shouting: “Come to the door, I am armed.”

By 3.10pm, only two police cars remained.
