The University of Sussex ranked among the top 20 universities in the UK

Alexander NorthwoodThe University of Sussex has been ranked one of the top 20 universities in the UK, according to a recent list of global university rankings.
The release of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) saw Sussex ranked between 16th and 20th in the UK. Although the ARWU does not provide specific rankings, Sussex was ranked higher than 2019, in which it failed to make it to the top 20.
The ARWU also placed Sussex within the top 200 universities in the world, consistent with last years ranking.
The University of Sussex websites states that: “the rise has been driven largely by a significant increase in the influence of Sussex research on the global academic community.”
The ARWU rankings are based on a range of issues such as the quality of faculty, highly cited researchers, and the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes. Cambridge was ranked the top university in the UK, being placed third globally.
