Nominations are open for Sussex BNOC 2020

Forget Tokyo 2020, Sussex BNOC of the Year is here

Let’s face it, this academic year has been a little bit of a train wreck. Between 24 days of strikes and the dreaded C word, it’s safe to say we’ve had a rather bumpy ride. You may be feeling a little lost, or somewhat without purpose in these dark and uncertain times. But fear not, The Sussex Tab is here to reintroduce some consistency into your life: that’s right, it’s BNOC time again.

Last year’s competition was no short of fierce: amongst the social butterflies, philanthropists and Lewis Capaldi lookalikes, Joe Healy was named Sussex’s BNOC 2019. But who will steal the crown this year? It’s all down to you.

What exactly is a BNOC?

A BNOC (Big Name on Campus) is the guy who can’t get from Library Square to Falmer Bar without being stopped by friends and fans alike. It’s the gal who can roll straight out of her evening seminar and onto the PRYZM dancefloor. BNOCs party hard and network harder; they know every captain of every sports team, and are on a first-name basis with every bouncer in Brighton. Even the seagulls know they’re a big deal.

We’re looking for the friend that seems to know everyone. The sesh master who’s Snapchat friends list is longer than their dis. Do they religiously attend C U Next Tuesday but still somehow make that Wednesday training session? You may find yourself wondering how they manage such a jam-packed lifestyle, but the BNOC takes it in their stride.

Is your friend cut from the BNOC cloth? We want to know. Nominate them below to be in with a chance of winning the highly-esteemed title of Sussex BNOC of the Year 2020. Tell us their most outrageous sesh stories – we want all the gory deets, because, above anything else, we could all use a laugh this year.

What are you waiting for? Get nominating, and let the games begin.
