University of Sussex Post Graduate Ball cancelled amid coronavirus pandemic

The SU called it a ‘difficult decision’ to cancel the Ball

The University of Sussex postgraduate ball, hosted by the student’s union, has been cancelled due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

The event was meant to set to take place on 30 May in Brighton’s Grand Hotel, on the Facebook event the student’s union said:

It reads: “Unfortunately we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Post Graduate Ball. Thanks to all those who worked hard for the event!”

Post Graduate Office, Benjamin Matthews, stated: “I grateful for all the hard work our events team had put into helping to organise it, and our Students’ Union designer for their work too.

“Obviously right now what’s most important is that everyone stays safe and well, that we look after one another if not in person then online and by phone. I’m so happy to have so many friends as a result of studying at Sussex and representing Postgrads, and even if we don’t meet again in person for some time please let’s stay connected so that we can celebrate all the small and big wins in our lives.”
