As much as we all love our beloved Brighton sometimes you need to escape and explore somewhere new. This is the guide to all the places outside Brighton from countryside to quirky towns these are the places to explore outside of Brighton.

Lewes

Only a 15 minute train journey from Brighton station, Lewes is literally down the road. Lewes has a small -town charm and has many small coffee shops and bookshops to mooch around. The town has the historic castle to explore as well as a brewery so there is something to suit everyone. The town is lovely to wander around the cobbled streets and explore the views.

Seven Sisters Country Park

A 40 minute scenic bus journey from Brighton. The iconic chalk cliffs highlight the coastline. Visit the cosy Saltmarsh cafe showing the gorgeous views as well as serving all fresh Sussex produce and locally roasted artisan coffee. Boasting beautiful views and fresh sea air – the perfect place to escape the city!

South Downs

The beautiful national park is surrounding Brighton and a large part of Sussex. Options of cycling and mountain biking are available as well as the Jack and Jill windmill showing spectacular views. The south downs also have beautiful walking trails which are perfect opportunities to get out with your friends or flatmates.

Alfriston

A cute little village around half an hour drive from Brighton. Gorgeous walks around the cobbled streets as well as friendly locals – what more could you want? There is Middle farm, the oldest farm shop in the UK which has a farmhouse kitchen. There is also Rathfinny wine estate where you can enjoy a sampling the Winemaker’s lunch or afternoon tea. Plenty of scenic views and places to explore including St Andrews church.

Eastbourne

A 40 minute train journey from Brighton. The Sovereign harbour shows peaceful views of the boats along the water from a host of cafes and restaurants. As well as watching the boats go by there are also walks around the harbour and down to the beach to explore. Eastbourne pier shows many different views of Eastbourne’s beautiful landscape as well as the entertainment of the arcades and shops on the pier. There is also a town centre with many popular shops in the Beacon as well as many coffee shops to try.
