Armed police and dogs in Bevendean following reports of a man in possession of a machete

Armed police receive reports of a man with a machete in a residential street.


Shortly after 5pm in Bevendean a residential street had armed police and dogs flood the area after receiving reports of a man with a machete.

The man fled from a house in Kenilworth Close after officers had arrived and the incident has been handed over to unarmed officers.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman has said: “Police were called to Kenilworth Close, Brighton, at 4.41pm to reports of a man in possession of a machete.” The spokeswoman commented: “The man left the scene before officers arrived and is not thought to be in possession of the machete”.

The police spokeswoman also said: “Efforts are still ongoing to locate the man.  This is an ongoing incident and no further details are available at this time”.
