Brighton residents evacuated from buildings after car crash causes a gas leak

There have been no reported injuries


This evening (14th February) a car collided into a property in Bedford Place, near Brighton seafront.

Nearby homes were evacuated, as well as the Lion and Lobster pub.

One local resident stated: "A car has driven into a house near the Lion and Lobster and hit a gas main.

"They are closing off roads due to a major leak and evacuating the pub and houses."

Sussex police and responding emergency services have closed off roads in the area.

It has been reported that a bus is parked near the area and is offering shelter to those who have been evacuated from their homes.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said officers are working with East Sussex Fire and Rescue at the scene.

There have been no reported injuries.
