The Sussex Police were present at the scene for an hour

A private ambulance reportedly collided with a pedestrian yesterday evening whilst driving down Lewes Road.

The emergency services were called to the scene at 17:14pm and remained there for an hour after the incident.

A spokesperson for the Sussex Police told The Sussex Tab that "The woman suffered head injuries and was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital."

The road was closed for an hour while the incident was dealt with and buses coming from The University of Sussex campus were either evacuated or diverted.

The same spokesperson for the Sussex Police stated "The ambulance driver was unhurt."

An eyewitness directly told The Sussex Tab that there were "At least 3 police cars and at least one person on the ground covered in blankets. They were putting out police caution road signs, everyone got off the bus and we all started walking."
