A woman has fallen off Brighton Palace Pier this evening
The coastguard and police were called to her rescue.
Maddie PritchardEmergency services were called to the scene this evening as a woman fell from Brighton Palace Pier.
A witness said he overheard to coastguard saying a woman had fallen from the Pier.
The same witness revealed that they "saw the police start running towards the woman on the beach."
The woman was seen in the water around 6:30 pm, and police, ambulances and the coastguard arrived shortly thereafter.
A woman was rescued from the beach and taken away on a stretcher.
The A259 road, opposite the Old Ship Hotel, was briefly closed but has now been reopened.
