Correction: Professor Kathleen Stock
Our articles contained some inaccuracies
On 20 and 23 November 2018, The Tab published two articles about Professor Kathleen Stock. These articles contained some inaccuracies.
The Philosophy department forum was not convened in response to any communication by Professor Stock to Philosophy students but had been planned for months. The purpose of the forum was to discuss general issues pertaining to the School of History, Art History and Philosophy; it was not to consider or impose any disciplinary sanction on Professor Stock. Any disciplinary sanction would have been a matter for her employer, which did not suggest that it was under consideration.
Professor Stock’s email to students in advance of the Philosophy forum affirmed her commitment to using her students’ preferred pronouns and her belief that all trans people share legal rights to be free of violence, discrimination and harm.
