Brighton buses clamp down on student tickets

Have those ID cards at the ready

In an effort to reduce delays, Brighton & Hove Buses have released a statement urging students to show ID cards for their student tickets.

The local company have also declared that the driver will charge the full standard fare if you fail to show your ID card.

Neglecting to do so apparently contributes to delays as well as costing more than the student price.

Without the ID card, you are not entitled to the student discount.

Brighton & Hove Bus Company have also stated that NUS cards are not accepted as valid student ID on board.

Mick Birdsell, from the company, said: “We want to provide a speedy and reliable service for all.

“This can sometimes be challenging. Ensuring that only genuine students use these discounted tickets helps us to continue to offer the student discount.”

The stricter guidelines have been in place since the week beginning Sunday 2nd October.
