Four per cent of food outlets in Brighton have failed hygiene inspections

We’re above the national average for clean food so that’s something to celebrate

In a recent study by The Guardian, it has been revealed that four per cent of food outlets in Brighton and Hove failed their hygiene inspections.

A breakdown of results show that 32 of the 668 registered food establishments in Brighton were ranked two or lower on the food hygiene rankings.

Some of the businesses that failed their inspection are The Codfather, Binari, Bangkok Express, and Chicks Chicken and Pizza. The full list can be found here.

However, some of our favourite takeaways scored very highly. The like of Buddies, RFC, Grubbs, Papa Johns, and Burger King all scored full marks and received five stars.

When conducting inspections, the FSA looks out for how hygienically the food is handled, the condition of the structure of the building and how the business manages what it does to make sure food is safe.

The end result is then figured out through a combination of these factors. On a scale from 0-5, anything that ranks two or lower has failed their inspection.
