Three per cent of students at Sussex will be a victim of violent and sexual crime

The Complete University Guide released new statistics

The Complete University Guide compiled an annual report of the number of crimes accounted for from July 2015 to June 2016 per one thousand residents within student areas.

The crimes included in the report were burglary, robbery and violence and sexual offences.

They discovered that the University of Sussex had a total score of 3.5 per cent for all crimes reported, therefore three per cent of people are likely to be a victim of violence and sexual offences.

The University of Sussex students are just as likely to be a victim of violence and sexual offences, burglary and robbery as students from the University of Brighton.

In July, a senior Media and Communications lecturer at the University of Sussex was convicted of assault of his former student girlfriend, aged 24.

These statistics are based on all residents and not just students, the results are taken within wards or electoral divisions weighted by student population.
