Rox promoters tell us why Freshers are the best people at uni

‘On the first night of Freshers’ I threw up on some random guy… after that night we became best friends’

Freshers’ is that magical time where puny mortals have their rite of passage to become prestigious university students. Here, you will learn things that will never be taught in classrooms such as you alcohol limit, your social skills, and just how deep into your overdraft your conscious can manage.

Partying during this time is a must and it’s a great chance to visit the local nightlife which of course have set up some wacky events for freshers. Freshers is a strange time where you may discover day-drinking combined with all-night partying. So let’s face it, we probably partied harder than we ever did during freshers.

We spoke to promoters for Rox to ask just why Freshers’ are the best laugh.

Tony Ambrose

Freshers are just so god damn happy and friendly. If you ever want to make some new friends then go out during freshers. What would usually be regarded as socially unacceptable becomes a bonding mechanism.

For example, first night of freshers I threw up on some random guy… after that night we became best friends.

Rami Khani

It’s quite simple, being a promoter during freshers you meet bare girls and have access to all the acts that come down – Stormzy met me last year – all for free! Only down side is I don’t remember waking up in my own bed all of freshers.

Kasma

I love Freshers’ Week because drinks and club entry is cheap and anyone can afford it so nights are always full of students like you. Everyone has this weird social mentality where you feel connected with everyone in the room because, lets face it, they’re probably freshers like you.

Sometimes there are crazy events such as free pizza or Mcdonald’s in the club or even sometimes festival tickets giveaway, and this is reserved for the party mad Freshers.

George Fuller

Freshers are people like no other. Young, reckless, and ready. Every single fresher has a chance that very few get; the chance to reinvent themselves. Freshers week arrives and that first night out is huge! You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone. Who gives a f**k what you do? Freshers are the pure example of simply enjoying who you are.

They are new faces in a very new setting for them. Freshers come to university with such enthusiasm and excitement that it makes it a pleasure and duty to ensure they do have a great night.

In turn, their excitement rubs off on you and you enjoy your work as promoter just that bit more, and forget about everything else that’s happening around you and just concentrate on having a great time. That’s so refreshing in my opinion.
