The Great Escape Festival are putting on a free street party next weekend

You don’t even need a ticket

Brighton will once again open its doors (literally – all the music venue doors) to host The Great Escape music festival this month and this time the festival is throwing a free street party.

The Great Escape is one of the leading industry festivals with thousands of up and coming artists playing across the city’s music venues.

To mark ten years of the festival in Brighton, and celebrate the next ten years to come, The Great Escape Street Party invites everyone from delegates to wristband holders to members of the public to enjoy the sweet sounds of new music, street performers and some of Brighton’s finest food and drink.

Expect plenty of street performers and one hell of a party

The Brighton International Label Market will be relocating to the Street Party, featuring some of the industry’s hottest labels which include: Clubhouse, Erased Tapes, Mr Bongo, Freshly Sqeezed, Tru Thoughts, Shogun Audio, Post Pop Records and At The Helm/ Hidden Trail.

To accommodate the Street Party, Jubilee Street will be pedestrianised from Thursday. Saturday and New Road will be pedestrian-only on Thursday and Friday.

The Pop-Up Stage from Thursday through to Friday will have a diverse range of artists, including Brighton’s sixty-piece indie choir The Jam Tarts, New York Brass Brand, London duo Xylaroo whose vibrant harmonies and soulful lyrics will capture audiences and gypsy folk and punk superstars Barbarella’s Bang Bang. Swing Patrol will be showing off their dance moves as well as offering free taster sessions.

Among the line-up on the New Road Stage supported by Citadel Festival is alternative folk musician and local Brightonian Ellie Ford. Voodoo Love Orchestra will be joining her, along with British rock band The Dunwells and Sussex local Sam Wills.
