Dusk vs. Fubar

Two Tab writers battle out the biggest argument in Stirling history

Why is Fubar the best nightclub in Stirling?

By Paul Connolly

Fubar is a much better club than Dusk. For starters, every Tuesday in Dusk it’s like there’s a black Friday sale on taking a piss, with the queue for the loos literally spilling onto the dance floor some nights. Fubar by comparison always features a charming toilet butler like this lovely chap.

I kept on calling him George, dunno why

Fubar also has two floors, and that means two different DJ’s. Fancy a bit of cheesy music? Head downstairs. Wanna hear a more RnB or chart music? Go back upstairs. It beats waiting for the same one DJ to get over his David Guetta obsession.

Want cheap drinks? Just flash your flashcard, what the card lacks in creativity it makes up for in discounts. Don’t have a flashcard? Fuck it, just go up to the bar and ask someone waiting to be served, that’s what most people do.

Their ‘give us a flash and save some cash’ motto is unfortunately all too often misunderstood by Stirling locals

Last and to be honest least, Fubar also gets the best celebrity appearances. Admittedly in recent times, the Geordie Shore and TOWIE appearances have somewhat ruined this argument for me, but apparently Franz Ferdinand once played there. So there’s that.

Ricci Guarna- Ricci from Geordie Shore came to Fubar recently, even if this does look more like an appearance for the make a wish foundation

And if you feel like some fresh or smokey air, you can always head out to the smoking area and make some new friends.

Why is Dusk the best nightclub in Stirling?

Dusk is obviously better than Fubar. For me, there’s no competition. Sure, Fubar might look fancier, and have two floors or whatever, but you don’t need that as long as you’re getting served cheap alcohol quickly. And that’s where Dusk excels.

Club heaven

Dusk is big enough that you can avoid last Tuesday’s one night stand, but small enough that you can always find your mates after one too many Dusk Bombs.

The sunken dance floor might get a little crowded sometimes, but that’s only because no one can resist the weird but excellent mix of cheesy, RnB and chart music. Where else can you hear Jay Z paired back to back with The Fratellis?

If the sweaty air gets to be too much, you can always head outside to the courtyard

And if all that sweaty grinding gets a bit much, you can head out to the courtyard, where you can always find someone to have a chat with and bum a cigarette off of. Just try and avoid the couples dry humping in the corners. If you’re lucky, you might even get to witness a cat fight.
