As reported in The Courier, parts of West Sands were cordoned off yesterday evening as the the Coastguard, RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution), Police Scotland, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service endeavoured to recover the body.

“At 6.25pm on Sunday June 3 officers from Fife attended West Sands, St Andrews, after the discovery of what is believed to be human remains were found within the water," a Police Scotland spokesperson said, however nothing is yet to be confirmed and enquiries are still at a preliminary stage.

The parents of Duncan Sim, the 19-year-old Chemistry student who went missing on 14th March, have reportedly been informed as a precaution.
