First year student faces trial for coercing sexually explicit images from underage girls

Student faces trial for extorting sexually explicit images and videos from underage girls between September 2015 and June 2016.

A St. Andrews student is facing 49 charges of extortion of sexually explicit videos and images from girls between the ages of 12 and 15, for over a year between September 2015 and June 2016.

Glen Allan Wilson, 18 and in first year, induced underage girls up to six or seven years his junior into sending him images of them partaking in sexual activity by means of social media, and sent overtly sexual images of himself to the girls in return, three aged 12, two aged 13, two aged 14 and one aged 15.

It is reported that he manipulated and forced them to send him the images, with intent to use them to threaten them into providing him with more indecent images, by saying that he would show their family and friends and that he would share them online.

Wilson is currently facing charges at Perth Sheriff Court, however was not in attendance to hear the charges, as he was sitting his second semester exams, however his solicitor tendered not guilty to all charges in Wilson’s absence. He is due for trial on 14th August.

John Malpass, Depute Fiscal, called the investigation and trial a ‘major operation’, as the girls involved would be giving evidence remotely from all across England, Wales and Scotland.
